A Rambler Rambles About: Pokemon Go

A Rambler Rambles About: Pokemon Go
So this was a thing that I just suddenly decided to do. I think I might keep doing it whenever I feel like it, I'm thinking maybe it can be just a more laid back sort of look at certain topics that I feel I might want to talk about.

A few months ago, I can't remember exactly when and I can't be bothered to look it up, everyone joined in on the latest occurrence. I chose the word occurrence because I'm too dumb to think of any other words; but mostly because that's what this was it was something that just occurred and then it was gone quicker than you could say, "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn." Of course I'm referring to Pokemon Go. This is a topic that I jumped on the band wagon for like many people; and while I think the game (if you could call it that) has some positive and negatives. For example I like how it encourages fitness and that's about the only positive I could conjure up. But the game aside, I truly do find this product to be fascinating, why? Because, simply put, I have never seen something like this happen before. I can come up with thousand of examples of products that just failed, however to have something that everyone played and was one of the highest grossing mobile games ever to becoming nothing overnight due to Niantic's knucklehead approach to updates without any forms of communication to try and justify the decisions they had made is, well like I said before, simply fascinating.

Like everyone else I played Pokemon Go a lot. And like everyone else I deleted it soon after because I was bored with it and saw no real reason to continue. I never thought about it again; until I heard Laura Kate Dale mention it on Podqusition (FYI she just quickly mentioned it got gen to Pokemon if you're interested). That got me thinking, has Niantic improved? Maybe even improved enough to redeem themselves? In short I don't believe so. At first I looked at reviews on the Apple Store. They're not good, people are reporting crashes, ridiculous loading times and so on. Which may not have been as bad if you don't consider the fact that these have been issues in the game since it was first released. But I decided this wasn't enough, I was going to have to try the game for myself. Here's what I've learnt: they added a new loading screen.
Yup. That's nice I suppose. It's got nice colors. Some Pokemon, don't really know which ones. They have also redone the tracking system, who as a core feature should have been in from the start. As mentioned before new Pokemon have been added. That's all there is really, at least from what I could be bothered to look at before my phone died from the battery being drained from a single app. Oh, before I forget guess what appeared when I turned it on for the first time (the first time it didn't instantly crash anyway) a Pidgey, A FUCKING PISSING PIDGEY! Sort your shit Niantic

In the back of my mind I was honestly hoping that maybe just maybe this would be fixed and that it might have actually been fun, but no it was the same old toss that I left before. In a way I honestly do feel sorry for Niantic.

So that was that, tell me what you thought about it. Other reviews will be coming soon I just feel like I need to play more of a game to be able to actually talk about it, I do have a few ideas for future reviews one of which is a Final Fantasy game.

As an update: streams are on hiatus for the time being as I have no way to stream with a stable connection without dropping frames constantly so I will be trying as hard as possible to get that sorted out.
However past streams can be found here:
